The Mudlark Production Company was founded as a joint venture between three very different media companies. Pixel-Lab, Active Ingredient and Rock Hammer each owns a third of Mudlark.
Mudlark was conceived as a company that should grow beyond the three original investors to accommodate not only new money but also new people to grow our portfolio of original products.
We have closed the first phase of funding – where we have received investment for specific projects. The second round of investment opportunities will be launched later in 2009.
4IP
4ip has invested in the early development of our ChromaRoama project and is looking at the second stage now , as well as the work we are doing with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
4ip is the next stage of Channel 4, the stage where they go past TV and see what they can do with public service media in the digital age.
They describe themselves like this :
The 4iP Fund aims to deliver publicly valuable content and services on digital media platforms with significant impact and in sustainable ways. It represents one of the biggest and most exciting calls-to-action for new and emergent digital media companies in the UK.
Mudlark works most closely with Clare Hancock, 4ip’s Digital Commissioning manager in the West Midlands.
Screen West Midlands
Mudlark is one of the first new media production companies to receive project funding from Screen West Midlands., who have invested in the first development stage of ChromaRoama.
Jason Hall, SWM’s Head Of Innovation, has worked with both Mudlark and 4IP to get this first exciting project off the ground.
iNVESTMENT PHASE 2
The Mudlark Production Company will launch a new funding round in the Summer of 2009.
